“Cats are increasingly popular pets; in 2009 Australian households owned 2.35 million cats, in 2012 their number had increased to 3.3 million (source: Pets Australia). Cats are therefore likely to be presented to veterinarians more frequently, often with diseases or injuries that require complex treatments. Now, finally, a textbook on feline soft tissue surgery has been published! Cat-specific textbooks on internal medicine and orthopaedic surgery are already available, but this book is the missing link to a complete feline practice library. Together with the companion book Feline orthopedic surgery and Musculoskeletal Disease, the whole array of surgical conditions in cats is covered.

There are many soft tissue surgery conditions that are unique to cats; the more common examples are hyperthyroidism, megacolon, injection-site sarcomas, and upper and lower urinary tract disease. Feline soft tissue and general surgery is a comprehensive text that is pleasurable to read because of the many illustrations, photos and case examples. All the editors and the 60 authors of the book are accomplished specialists in feline medicine or surgery, with a wealth of experience in their fields. By passing on their in-depth knowledge, they have created a state-of-the-art textbook.

The book is divided into seven sections, which are colour-coded for easy orientation. The selection of techniques is comprehensive and ranges from basic skin surgeries and neutering through intermediate-level head and neck and intestinal surgery to more specialist-level surgery, for example of the thorax, the ureters and the adrenal glands.

For beginners only

If you don't know much about depression or nutrition or the effects of what you eat on your mental state, and how your brain works, then by all means, buy this book. You'll learn a lot and it is presented in a understandable and logical manner.

However, the author says that depression, bipolar disorder, ADHD, panic attacks etc.etc are either caused by a genuine emotional problem- go see your local shrink- or a nutritional/environmental toxin problem. None of this is new nor particularly controversial; most of the daytime doctor shows talk about these things on a regular basis. Environmental toxins and poor eating habits can really mess up your brain, true enough, as can serious emotional problems, but it's not the only way to have problems. Concussions and traumatic brain injuries also cause depression and a host of other emotional/physical problems and are usually accompanied by PTSD. My depression, etc. were caused by a traumatic brain injury which she doesn't even talk about. Probably because there's nothing you can do about it.... I had hoped to find out something new but I didn't.

I've looked at many books on how to transform your life. Most focus on the old paradigm of "work at it until you get it" with regards to transformation.

This book takes a novel approach - we have these peak states and capabilities inherent in us as our birthright and simply need to find ways to access them.

This book is not for those who want to stay comfortable - it will expose you to theories and concepts which stretch your mind and beliefs. If you are willing to go on a exploration of the more exotic parts of life, then try out the work presented in this book.

Finally one that lives up to its billing

I've purchased many books on the mind, spirit, human potential, etc. Finally, here is one that lays out a model and then tries to work from it to logical conclusions. The main author makes no claim to perfection - he strikes me a a guy who is doing the best he can and just wants something that works. Most others I've read were either wedded to their pet theory and would ignore reality if they clashed (most religious type practices) or else they were very general or personal without detailed working guides (such as some of the fascinating writings of Robert Anton Wilson).

My interpretation of this work is that the techiniques aim to heal what their theory says are the traumas that block "optimal functioning" (my words) of the "self". I'll let the book speak for itself, but it is unique (in my experience) and refreshing.

I didn't give it 5 stars only because it seems some of the core meat will be in Volumbe 2. Granted, this Volume 1 does have a number of techniques and does explicity state it is a book on both theory and applications. The techniques are user friendly and I am excited about Volume 2 whenever it will be issued.

If you are serious about wanting to "upgrade" your "self" I strongly and highly recommend this work.

this is not the usual cock and bull book. i never rated a book before because they were not worth the effort.

this is the product of a scientific approach and research on peak states of consciousness. It proposes an interesting realistic model for health and quality of life. this book is packed with knowledge derived from experiments and research.

i lived in a peak state myself for a while and now thanks to this book i can see my life from a different perspective. at the time i though mine was a god-given experience and in the same way god did take it from me. NOPE. this book showed how actually i got into, it, how i lost is, and more importantly how i can claim it back, something that i have been trying to do all my life.

you should definitely buy this book if you think you know waht a peak state or peak experience is. i actually recommend this book to anyone, even though i know it amy be difficult for people who do not know what they talk about unless they suspend their disbelief.

I read this book and it absolutely blew my mind. It opened my eyes to what God truly is and why history was rewritten the way it was. There's some heavy research that was involved in writing a book like this but Supreme Understanding took that scholarship and condensed it in a way that the reader could digest easily. No matter what type of religious text you have in your household, this is a book that needs to be right next to it. This book shows our heavy influence throughout history and why that rich history has been hidden. That is until now. Cop this book and spread the word. Thanks Supreme.

About the Author
Anne Myers received her Ph.D. from the New School for Social Research.

Christine Hansen is currently Associate Professor of Psychology at Oakland University. She received her Ph.D. from Michigan State University. Her professional affiliations include the American Psychological Society, Midwestern Psychological Association, Golden Key National Honor Society, Phi Kappa Phi National Honor Society, Sigma XI National Scientific Research Honor Society, and Society for Experimental Social Psychology. Her varied research interests--which have been funded by the NSF and NIH--include behavioral and personality effects of popular music, contemporary media, emotive information processing, and bioinformatics.
